NHRC library was established with the purpose of providing research based health information. It is being utilized by the all health and related professionals involved in research activities. It servers as a repository for health research related information and resources.

With the support from organizations like Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, Rockefeller Foundation, WHO and government of Nepal. NHRC library has started to fulfill its purpose. NHRC library has a collection of research based books/tapes/documents and CD-ROMs, and is actively networking with other health research libraries. Library data is classified under internationally accepted classification scheme developed by the National Library of Medicine, USA; using MESH (Medical Subject Heading).

NHRC library has established a network with other health related libraries and information centers based in Kathmandu. It is also an active member of HELLIS Nepal which is a communication center and national focal point. Being Associated with HELLIS Nepal, NHRC library is participating in developing the HELLIS Nepal web page. This association will add the presence of NHRC Library not only at national but also at the International level.

NHRC library would like be known as active heath research information center, which will provide the research based information in all aspects of health related subjects available in the country. NHRC library can access more than 10,000 health related research based full text articles that are available in the net and it is also started to collect there full text articles and stored in the CD ROM.
Information is provided not only through books but also online via Internet Connection. These facilities assist scholars and health professional with information in their respective fields in much convenient way

To promote resource sharing, networking and exchange of databases,
To document the health related research based information properly in electronic version, and

Services
Computerized Retrieval Service : Currently the library has the created database of 1000 records of its collection. The users can browse database by author, title and key-words at intranet and internet.
Internet Services : The library is providing full INTERNET services for the enhancement of research and study at subsidized rate.
Photocopy Service : The library has been providing a Photocopy service to the users at subsidized rate.
